A Soul Such As Hers

For aeons she has eluded me
I have spent lifetimes in searching for her
Through deserts of blistering solitude
and the cruel crowded streets of guilt-ridden cities
which at times left me even more deserted

I have witnessed the raising of magnificent feats
The accomplishments of splendid wonders
foretold through the ages for time immemorial

I have seen the glory of mythic battles
and the misery of pestilent defeat

I have gazed at the dawning sun
bringing with it the dreams born to the greatest of minds
I have lamented as it set
knowing another day in vain had perished

I have poured countless chalices
in libation to the goddess of the moon
From on high
atop sacrificial monuments
and lonely mountaintops
Dedications proclaiming her wine to be the very elixir
all that I have seen was testament to-
The Covenant of Love
All for a soul such as hers
