Beautiful day
We took a drive into the mountains
west of Talent,
a small town in the
foothills of Southern Oregon. We drove nine miles in and took
Wagner Gap trail up tothe deeper snow pack.
We werent geared for heavy snow and headed back.
On the way back down we stopped and ate our lunch
in a thawing meadow before returning to the
valley to walk along the bike path in the park.
At the north end of the park there is a journal in a mailbox
that someone has placed that invites you to share your thoughts.
Its a journal filled with well -wishing and thoughts of
peace from the travelers.
Al wrote why wait to die to go to heaven? We walked for
awhile with a lady and her baby and iIrish Setter dog,
sharing dog stories.
Town, grocery
shopping, then back to the house.
I find such solace in a day like this,
Where you simply flow through events and possibility.
Such a freedom from fear
That lays between its breasts!
A statement of song, a tune of endless purpose-
An endless day,
A spirits plaything.
We breathe life in and out.
Drawn by sex and love, and endless dying,
In its pain we love its climax, and choose its dance.
We shout in its joy, and touch it with our tongues.
We love its savor, and lick its grave...
Til again are lost in time, to wander in the stardust
With lust, and ever pound our form.
Created out of sand,
Spring, and rushing from the earth we worship gods that dream the dreams
And make things happen;
Passed from god to god-
A simple plaything!-
We rise higher than the gods...
