Where Does Time Go?

Where does Time go? I'd like to know
When in Good Times you're living,
So swift the day--soon gone away
What is it's haste in leaving?

And when alas, Time hardly'll pass
Why must it then drag it's feet?
When sad or alone-so far from Home--
Why linger long to complete?

Is Time our Friend--or more a Fiend
With whom we daily contend?
Can we transverse-for better, not worse--
Time to it's ultimate end?

LORD make me wise-Time not despise
Help me to number my days,
That when it's o'er, on Eternity's Shore
May I be to give Thee Praise!
