Progress Of Another Kind

sing me a song
in an ancient
and
mystical language
long forgotten
write me poems
in our dead language
dance to a dance
cleopatra danced
talk of gods
long gone
or just forgotten
tell me
myths
of our heroes
that have dissapeared
teach me the ways of indians
who's civilization was destroyed
show me an animal
that no longer exhists
we have made it this way
we have taken our brothers as slaves
to use as tools for work
that we could have done
but wanted progress
are we any happier
now that we have progressed
from being spectators of gladiators
to watchers of destruction
show me forests
that used to range afar
that are now used as fire wood
sing me
ancient egyptian hymns
we destroyed and mocked
we teach the young
so they can
be under the control
of those who sing mournful songs
of their plans
to make progress of another kind
