You became my silent strength.
Your incessant drive for perfection...
taught me discipline.
Through facing adversity...
you taught me perseverance.
The way you sacrificed your time for your family...
taught me self-denial.
Your encouragement helped me to attain my goals.
The way you put others before yourself...
taught me respect.
You made yourself accountable to those around you...
this taught me honesty.
You were always in the background...
willing to let me shine.
My dreams were your dreams.
In such a short time,
your humble quiet ways set the standard for who I am.
I will be forever grateful to you.
Over the years, since you’ve been gone,
I see more of you in me.
I look at my child, and I know,
the things I teach her, are a direct influence from you.
You taught me many things,
but most of all,
as a Father...
You taught me how to love.
