The Panther and Her Prey

the Panther
had picked up
his scent again
and started
to spiral in
on Her prey

this one
She would not
lose
to the darkness
of the jungle
now that
She had found him
feeding in the sunlight
in a small clearing
in the forest

this one
She would consume
for Her hunger
was intense

and as She slowly
moved closer
to him
he was not unaware
of the pending danger
but waited patiently
for Her to attack
wanting to experience
fully the moment
when She leapt
upon him
and he was
no more

She quietly climbed
a tree and sensed
the heat
of the kill
in Her Body
and in the air

and in the moment
that She was leaping
through the air
he turned around
and looked into
Her bright shiny Eyes
and then he felt
Her Teeth bite
into his neck
and Her Paws
cover his body
and Her Body's weight
upon his own
and he felt
the life force
flow out of it

he now hovered
in that same air
looking down at Her
from the same
vantage point
that She once looked
down at him

and then
She glanced up
towards him
with those same
glowing Eyes
licked Her Mouth
and s l o w l y
walked away
