The Party
I am alone in a crowded room,
faces pass... eyes stare....lips smile,
a glass of wine held tightly in my hand.
Parties are not for me,
I need only you to spend my evenings with,
the touch of your hand
whispering I love you
laughing at an old joke neither of us really understands,
making love....silently listening to the warm of the night.
I stand surrounded by a thousand voices,
yet I have only two ears.
Music too loud...the host I'm not sure I even know.
No...if the truth be told, I need only you.
My friend, my love.....
will leave the parties for those who are still alone.
