THE ENDING

You can burn all the pictures
And hate all the poems,
Deny me a phone call
And say you're not home.

But you can't kill the magic
That ignited the flame,
That burns eternally,
And screams out your name.

For I kept all your photos
And re-read the prose,
I answered your call,
And remembered the rose.

Because I can't kill the magic
That ignited the flame,
That burns eternally
And screams out your name.
