The essence of your spirit
surrounds you
in a soft aura
tinted over the years
with the shades of
strength and compassion
and touches
all who come near
with the warmth
of a thousand smiles.

My own soul
having traveled far
is conscious
of all you offer
and sidles up
to where you stand
and our spirits
patiently waiting
reach out and embrace
as a waltz begins
playing
the sweet notes
that only they can hear.

Like two silk scarves
billowing
in a warm breeze
they dance together
leisurely swaying
back and forth
in perfect step
hoping
and praying
the music
never ends.

I feel a shiver
of recognition
as the positive energy
of all that you are
gently reaches in
and touches my heart
reminding me
that we’ve danced
this dance
together
a long time ago
when we were one.
